I would like to visit the National Sports Museum and take a tour of the MCG. Is this possible?
Yes, visitors to the MCG are able to attend the National Sports Museum and participate in an MCG Tour for a discounted, combined rate.

Can I visit the National Sports Museum and attend an event at the MCG?
Admission into the National Sports Museum will not gain entry to an event being held within the MCG arena. A separate event ticket can be purchased in advance of arrival or at the ground on the day.

Is there an audio tour of the National Sports Museum?
To complement your visit to the museum, an audio tour will be provided at no additional cost to each full paying patron.

What items are prohibited from the National Sports Museum?
The following items are not permitted in the National Sports Museum:

  • Food and drinks
  • Cameras, video and/or audio recording equipment
  • Animals (exceptions for guide or hearing purposes)
  • Rollerblades, bikes, skateboards or scooters

What food and beverage facilities are available at the National Sports Museum?
Patrons of the National Sports Museum can purchase food and beverages at the Paddock Café, located to the left of the main entrance to the National Sports Museum. The café is open until 4.30pm.

What retail environments are available at the National Sports Museum?
The MCG Superstore is open to patrons of the National Sports Museum and is located to the right of the main entrance to the Museum.

Offering a range of exclusive National Sports Museum merchandise and collection pieces, patrons can also purchase from a comprehensive selection of AFL club merchandise; cricket and MCG merchandise together with a seasonal selection of other sporting codes' merchandise.

A selection of Melbourne Cricket Club merchandise is also available for MCC members to purchase on presentation of their membership card.

What facilities does the National Sports Museum offer for children?
The National Sports Museum has been developed to cater for all age demographics, providing a combination of collection items and multi media presentations.

The National Sports Museum includes a fully interactive gallery called Game On.

The National Sports Museum has also developed a comprehensive educational program in compliance with the Victorian Essential Learning Standards, supported with a range of learning resources and activity sheets for teachers and students to utilise pre and post their schools visit.

In addition, the National Sports Museum will operate school holiday programs in conjunction with the Victorian gazetted school holiday dates.

What facilities does the National Sports Museum provide for those with special needs?
The National Sports Museum provides lift accessibility to the museum and ramps have been incorporated to allow for ease of movement throughout the environment. For information regarding Smart Auslan and Hearing Loops please click here
The majority of interactive elements within the Game On environment have been developed for utilisation by all patrons however, some, due to the nature of the individual sport, may not be recommended for some user groups.

Once I have entered, can I leave and return to the National Sports Museum?
Patrons will be able to depart the museum and return same day, on presentation of their current admission ticket.
Tickets cannot be transferred to other patrons who are yet to purchase their admission ticket.
